My Home Town. Мой родной город

I live in Poltava. Poltava is quite an old town. It was founded in the middle of the 12th century. During the Great Patriotic War Poltava became the scene of cruel fighting. Since the war the town has risen from ruins and is now finer than ever. My town is not very large. There are about three hundred thousand people who live here. There are many squares, large parks, wide streets with beautiful buildings, cinemas, theatres and shops. Every year hundreds of tourists come to Poltava. They want to visit the famous historical and other places of interest of the town. We are proud of our museums: the Historical and Fine Аrts museums. The main street of our town is not very long but it has a lot of modern and old buildings, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Our town is a town of youth. Hundreds of young people study at many institutes, schools and colleges. We also have sports grounds, swimming-pools, gymnasiums and other good places where young people may spend their free time.

Я живую в Полтаве. Полтава — довольно старый город. Он был основан в середине 12 столетия. Во время Великой Отечественной войны Полтава стала местом отчаянных боев. В послевоенное время город поднялся из руин и теперь лучше, чем было. Мой город не очень большой. В нем живет около 300 000 человек. Здесь много площадей, больших парков, широких улиц с красивыми домами, кинотеатров, театров и магазинов. Сотни туристов приезжают в Полтаву ежегодно. Они хотят посетить знаменитые исторические места и другие выдающиеся памятки города. Мы гордимся своими музеями: историческим и художественным. Главная улица нашего города не очень длинная, но на ней много современных и старых домов, магазинов, кафе, ресторанов и баров.

Наш город — город молодежи. Сотни молодых людей учатся во многих институтах, школах, колледжах. В городе есть спортплощадки, бассейны, спортзалы и другие места, где молодые люди могут проводить свободное время.
